How to solder IC to prototype board

So, you finally receive your prototype board. How to get started? 

1. What do you need to successful soldering?

• At least solder iron with temperature regulation, but best results achieves with hot air rework station. Trust me, if you do electrical it most important tool that you have to have
• Some kind of holder. This is a bad idea to proceed on free standing board because micromovements of board does not allow to positioning the IC with good accuracy
• Multimeter to check the circuit for the shorts after soldering
